Softwarestand Version 3.x: Software Update Thread - Cupra Born Forum

  • 📢 New ID. Software Over-the-Air update starting soon

We’re about to roll out ID. Software 3.9.1 as an over-the-air update. 🥳

The focus of this release is on charging performance, battery care and overall system reliability, alongside important security updates.

Many of these improvements are the result of your feedback here in the ID. Drivers Club. We’d like to thank you for that.

    🆕 What’s new in ID. Software 3.9.1

Battery preconditioning for DC fast charging

You can now manually preheat the high-voltage battery before fast charging. This helps achieve higher charging power at DC charging stations, especially in colder conditions.

Optimised thermal management of the high-voltage battery

Battery temperature is now adjusted automatically based on driving behaviour and cooled more effectively after fast charging. This can help improve efficiency, range and long-term battery health.

    More reliable AC charging

In rare cases, AC charging power previously dropped unexpectedly. Charging performance is now automatically stabilised.

Improved interaction with wallbox solar charging

Charging with photovoltaic surplus (e.g. SMARTFOX Pro Charger) can now resume correctly after a charging pause.

    Electric door handle reliability

Door functions have been improved, especially in changing weather conditions. If further adjustments are needed, your service partner will contact you after the update.

    High-voltage battery monitoring

The system now checks for increased self-discharge. If detected, a warning will inform you so the battery can be inspected by a service partner.

    UI and comfort improvements

    - The welcome screen now closes automatically after five seconds.

    - Child lock warnings now disappear automatically once the issue is resolved.

    - An issue that caused an incorrect display of a low refrigerant fill level has been resolved.

    Important security updates

This update includes IT security improvements and is required to receive future OTA updates.

    ℹ️ Good to know

Consent for OTA updates is required.

This can be done in your profile settings or in your infotainment system.

Some personal settings (e.g. radio favourites) may be reset.

During installation, certain functions (such as the alarm system) may be temporarily unavailable.

Vehicles with technical modifications (e.g. taxi, retrofitted equipment such as third party rearview camera or special conversions) can not install the update via OTA – please contact your Volkswagen service partner.

As usual, the update will be rolled out in the form of a so-called canary release. This means that we will start the first wave with a small number of vehicles at first. Subsequent waves are then launched with an ever-increasing number of vehicles.

The rollout of ID. Software 3.9.1 will start shortly for cars with the latest ID. Software 3.7 or newer already installed.

If your ID. has an older software version, please perform any available OTA updates in your vehicle. In case you don’t see available updates, please contact your Volkswagen service partner
